I started Type 3 Detectives in 1994 as a small mail order parts business specialising in locating and supplying hard-to-find parts for Volkswagen Type 3's.
By 1995 we had a large UK customer base and started exporting on a regular basis. In 1996 we produced our first website and almost immediately our company became known on a world-wide basis and our exports dramatically increased. By the end of that year we had moved to our current larger purpose built premises in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, England.
On moving to Burwell, Andy Marriot (ex Wolfsburg Performance) joined the company as workshop manager and together we developed the legendary T3D workshop. We have recently expanded our car sales and location service, specialising in hand picked cars imported from drier countries, and can supply anything from a base car to a fully rebuilt show winner.....
Today we produce some of our own reproduction parts and continue to find good used and NOS parts. In fact due to our good reputation some of our nicer parts actually find us!
